She had been exhausted the first night back at Sonora (unsurprisingly, considering she had travelled to Arizona from Austria, and was still on European time), so Elly had waited until the following morning to put up the Quidditch sign-up sheet. As her first (and only) year as captain, this was the first (and last) time Elly would be putting up the sign-up sheet. The redhead had penned it herself that morning in the commons, and then pinned it right in the middle of the noticeboard, covering any and all existing notices. In true Pecari style, the title banner flashed obnoxiously, and the script below it was written in an assortment of coloured inks. It read,
Come along to the team try-outs on the pitch. It doesn't matter what year you're in or how much experience you've had on a broomstick - we will coach you to game standard! Returning players especially welcome. Please sign up below with your name, year, and preferred position.
Below this notice was a considerable gap, filling up the rest of the piece of parchment. At the top of this space, in the same relatively neat handwriting as the rest of the notice, Elly had added hers as the first name on the list: Elly Eriksson (captain), 7th year, Seeker.

Quidditch, to be perfectly and completely honest, was not one of Jose's favorite things at Sonora. Oh, it wasn't bad or anything, he didn't dislike it, and it was awesome to get out play on a team. The problem lie in two fairly major issues he had with the sport.
Firstly, he was a bit afraid of heights. Secondly, he wasn't very good at it. The two were a bit interrelated, largely because he wasn't very good at it because taking either of his hands off the broom made him really nervous. He was also fairly positive the Quidditch brooms enjoyed the smell of fear and when they got a rider giving off the scent, they did their level best to intensify the aroma, which made actually playing the game difficult.
Of course, over the last year, between flying lessons and Pecari practices as the team alternate, Jose had figured out how to trick himself into not being afraid, at least in spurts, but it was still there, lurking, whenever he looked down and thought about it too much.
But when he could forget about piddling little things like gravity and death, it actually was fun. Jose could grant the game that. So here he was, hoping that another year of practice would make the forgetting easier.
Besides, he wasn't going to back down from this just because he was afraid. What kind of Pecari would that make him?
Jose Hernandez, 2nd Year, Whatever (but I'd really rather not have it be Beater, okay?)
Because a Beater would need to hold a bat. And holding a bat meant he could only ever have at most one hand on the broom at a time. And he'd probably drop it. He'd had a hard enough time keeping hold of the baton during the bonfire relay, and that had just been for a few seconds.

Starbuck didn’t know much about Quidditch nor flying but the notice did say that they would coach the newer players to the standard. Plus Starbuck was usually good at all sports, having been raised with older brothers. She had been reading up on the sport and felt good about it, but the flying had her nervous. She bit her lip and sighed as she wrote.
Just about all, if not all, that had grown up in the magical world knew what Quidditch was and most, judging by the crowd at games, loved the sport. Delilah was no exception to this rule. She not only loved it, she couldn’t wait to play it, so when she saw the sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board, she bounced up and down on the tips of her toes in excitement. She was a little disappointed to see that she wasn’t the first one to sign the sheet, but honestly, how could anyone resist not signing up for the most awesome sport ever?
She dug around in her new yellow canvas bag for a quill and some ink. It was an explosive mess of books and papers and school hadn’t even started yet! Finally, buried under a book of fashion (gee, wonder how that had gotten there) was one of her bottles of ink and smashed between the pages was the quill. Happily, she took them out. Oooh, it was the sparkly purple ink! With a flourish, she added her name to the list.
The sign was annoying her... but in a good way. Yes, she grew up with quidditch always in her life, was encouraged by her brothers to play (and not to mention, taught by them to play a certain position), yet, for some reason she didn't feel confident about it. "Why not?" She asked herself many times. And she has yet to find a retort back. So, taking a deep breath, Demelza pulled out her rainbow colored pen, and wrote her name in her own sloppy handwriting.
Demelza Eagle, 1st year, beater (or a chaser, if needed)

Caedence walked down to the common room, still wearing the black sweats and old gray t-shirt she had slept in. Her hair had been lashed back into a messy braid which she vowed to fix later when she wasn’t so stinking tired. She was debating throwing on her robes and getting something to eat or just vegging out with a book on the sofas near the fire when she saw the sign up. Her decision could wait a few more minutes. Bullying a first year kid out of her quill, promising she’d return it when she was done, Caedence walked over to the sheet.
Caedence Grafton, year 7, Beater Caedence resisted adding “beware anyone else who even dares to write beater after your name!” because that wouldn’t be nice. Plus it would scare the little kids away. This was her last year after all. They needed a new bludger magnet.
Caedence gave the quill back to the nervous looking kid. Her eyes felt a little misty. It really was the last year here, wasn’t it? Caedence drew her braid over one shoulder and started petting it. All her friends except the seventh year students and Irene were gone. Even half her own year left. She was almost alone and she’d have to leave all the people she had found here. Caedence didn’t know what she was going to do after Sonora. After all, how did she make friends in the real world? If it wasn’t for Elly, Caedence wouldn’t have anyone. And she wasn’t even sure why Elly became her friend. Its crazy, really when Caedence thought about it. She had changed so much since she got to Sonora.
Since this was her last year, Caedence vowed to make it as amazing as possible. After all, she wanted the school to remember her. The Angry Girl. The Blonde Bomb. The Bludger Magnet. No one would forget Caedence Elizabeth Redoak. She’d make sure of that. And she’d make sure they were the champions this year. Even if she had to break every bone in the other kids bodies!

Raoul shuffled downstairs after an unrestful night. It was awesome being back at Sonora, but Raoul always had those jitters. It came from being the only kid who didn’t speak English when he first got to Sonora. Now he was quite fluent, but still he didn’t ever shake the old butterflies which lingered. He hoped to find Holly and catch up with her sometime soon. Gosh Holly was such a pretty princess!
The quidditch signup sheet caught his eye and Raoul debated for a few minutes on whether or not to sign up. Well he had fun the last times he did quidditch so he was sure it would still be fun!
Raoul Delachenne, year 5, keeper or chaser
Raoul decided to go down to breakfast. He hoped to meet up with someone familiar and ask them about their day. He couldn’t wait. This year at Sonora was going to rock!
