Dorian was feeling good about the concert. He had been unsure at first how many ideas he was allowed to have, but he’d felt okay discussing them with Kir who had, in turn, helped him talk to Georgia. She had a long list in return of things she wanted him to achieve, and he was well on the way to coming up with fixes for most of them. On the whole, it was a solo effort. He was steadily plugging away at the list of problems. It involved discussion with the prefects, and occasionally working to time things with the choreography, but mostly he got his jobs and got on with making all the things they’d need. There was one thing, however, that needed input from all of Teppenpaw, and so about a month before the concert, he pinned a notice to the Common Room notice board.
Photographs Required
During one of our performances for the concert, we will be projecting photos of Teppenpaws and their friends.
You do not need to be in the concert to submit a photo, and the subjects do not need to all be Teppenpaws - this is about celebrating the people who matter to all of us in Teppenpaw House.
Please submit your photos to Dorian by Xth June. Photos will be returned after the show.
OOC - Whilst IC responses will be a pleasant surprise, I am aware I have posted this very close to the concert. Therefore responses via the OOC board or DM will also be appreciated and incorporated.
Jozua made a regular habit of checking the bulletin board. He wasn't entirely sure why he did. He knew his Quidditch practice schedule by now. Teppenpaw didn't have passwords. He wasn't going to be joining any new clubs this late in his Sonora career. The clubs and activities he was already involved in would tell him if he had anything he needed to know about. But he still checked it regularly every morning before he left for breakfast and every evening when he returned before curfew.
Mostly, he blamed his own Teppish need to be helpful, and people who needed help sometimes posted so on the bulletin board - this was how he ended up mixed up in the concert in the first place. But he thought there was probably something of a Aladrenish need-to-know-everything that also brought him there to see what else was going on around the school and in Teppenpaw even if it didn't concern him.
So he saw Dorian's request for photographs pretty soon after it went up. He knew immediately that he'd submit of him and Lily but which one? The one from their first concert, where they managed to snap a picture of themselves in a tree wearing dress robes and a ball gown? The one Madeleine took doing 'surveillance' on them where they were both dressed in trenchcoats and looking very suspicious? Something more recent?
As he flipped through the box of photos he had up his room, he hesitated over one of him, Lily, and Finn at the Aladren (the town) Dueling Arena, when they had both come over during midterm to watch a tournament together. That one had the bonus advantage of actually showing him with two friends at once, and it was a better quality photo than most of the ones he had since Dad took it with a good camera instead of just the cheap one he had at school. Or there was the one from the Fair last year, that they'd taken in the photobooth, but Jozua's hair was still weird colors from the magical fair food. Or he had this one from the second Ball, with them both dressed up really nice, but that wasn't really them. Sure they looked nice, but they were hardly recognizable as the people they wanted to be in life.
Finally, he found the one. He knew it was the right one as soon as he saw it. He smiled, picked it up, and put all the rest away. He slipped it into an envelope and wrote "To Dorian; for the Concert" on it, and went to slip it under the younger boy's door.
When Dorian opened it up, he would find a photograph of Jozua and Lily, from only a few months ago. They were grinning widely at the camera. They were wearing Quidditch robes, and it was at one of the schools where they'd played - and very recently won - an away game. But more than that, they were sitting together on the back of a life size dragon statue the other school had in its front yard. They looked joyous, triumphant, adventurous, and very comfortable in each other close proximity. Anyone looking at the photograph would know immediately that they were the best of friends. And they looked exactly like the people they were supposed to be.
The end of the year was getting closer and soon they'd all be going home for the summer. Ruby was looking forward to seeing her parents, little brother and sisters again as well as her cousins, especially baby Uriah. And she'd get to see Dean. The Teppenpaw had gotten many letters from him, making plans for the break.
However, before all that, it would be the concer. Ruby was really having a good time. Georgia was being a tad bossy but the older girl really was under a lot of pressure to make it good. Kir and Eden were supposed to be in charge too, but most of the responsibility belonged to the seventh years.
Anyway, the fifth year might actually be a bit sad when it was done, as opposed to her older sister who seemed to badly want it to be over.
So when she spotted the sign on the Teppenpaw Common room notice board, Ruby went right up to her dorm room and got out her photo album. The people in her life were very important to her so she kept photos of them at school with her and could look at them any time she wanted.
Ruby paged through family photos, which was the bulk of the album. After some deliberation, she selected one of her and her siblings and parents, one of the whole family, including her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins (minus Uriah of course, as she, Emerald, Topaz and Allegra had yet to be around to take photos with the newest member of their branch but it was recent enough that her next youngest cousin, Libby was in it), one of her and Emerald with Angelique and Owen and finally, one of herself being taught to skate by Dorian.
