Once she'd finished catching up with her roommates and decorating their room, Ginger had just enough time before the Opening Feast to draw up this year's Quidditch Sign-Up sheet in anticipation of being named the Captain for her final year. Liac had delegated the responsibility to his more artistic assistant the last few years, so she whipped through the written part with the ease of practice, then spent most of the time working on the artwork that would hopefully draw the eye and get people to sign up.
Eventually she finished animating her drawings so they flew about as if actually playing a quidditch game on the paper. She had done the same last year, but then she'd only had a small sliver of the game visible on the sheet. This year, though, the figures were smaller so most of the field could be seen. If anyone watched for any significant length of time, they might even recognize that it was depicting the Teppenpaw-Pecari game played at the beginning of last year (at least to the best that Ginger could remember it). After Tiny!Animated!Eden caught the snitch, the animation repeated and the game began again.
She didn't put it up right away, though. She was still technically the assistant captain, and she thought it would be polite to wait until she was officially promoted to captain to put it up. That had now come to pass, so she pinned it up on the bulletin board and hoped for a good turn out so it again wasn't Teppenpaw's fault if the Quidditch season had to be cancelled again.
Teppenpaw Quidditch Team!
Teppenpaw needs you to join our Quidditch Team! Try-outs are open to everyone and we hope to see you there, this Saturday, at 7pm. Please sign-up below with your name, year, and preferred position(s) so we know how many people to expect. Walk-ons are welcome, though, so even if you don't sign up, you should still come, even if it's just to cheer us on!

And beneath that, she had added her own information as an example.

Eden stared at the signup sheet, watching the animation loop through the motions. It was clearly last year’s game, and every time, at the end, a small, drawn Eden caught the Snitch. She could hardly believe it. Having decided not to play the second pickup game at the end of last year (other Seekers needed turns, too), she was two-for-two on catching the Snitch. That was… that was incredible. Honestly. She had played a few pickup games here and there before coming to Sonora, but she really had no intention to play or expectation to be good. Eden had just signed up to fill Jake’s vacated spot and help the team remain afloat. But she was…. She was good.
And it was hard not to have fun doing something well. Quidditch was never a passion previously, but she couldn’t help grow attached to it when she was actually winning. Winning felt really, really good, so this year especially she hoped to do it again.
It was Ginger’s last year and first time being the official captain, although last year it seemed like maybe she did more stuff than Liac did. Ginger was Jake’s girlfriend, and she had been very, very nice to Eden, so the younger girl wanted to help her go out on a high note as best as she could. Hopefully, whatever streak of luck or maybe talent Eden had would not run out quite yet.

Joe could never help but admire Ginger’s drawings when he saw them, which was generally in Quidditch-related contexts. As he approached the sign-up sheet, still savoring his new title and slightly panicking about the fact that he’d have to do that next year and wouldn’t do nearly as good a job, he stopped to watch the little animations and realized with a start that he could actually recognize people.
He had to say, watching a drawing version of himself flying around playing the game was a little weird. Not as weird, as, say, being in the living room when John and Joanie had decided to explain at least the bare bones (Joe still thought he was the only one in the family who knew about the Top Secrets of the SOE or whatever that notebook of John’s was – Joanie had shut him down the few times he’d tried to ask her about what ostensibly looked like a fair copy of John’s study of the behaviors of birds at Sonora, but Joe had gathered enough to know that he was terrified by the effort it must have taken just to create that thing, a thought that made the thought of what information John had thought needed that much protection even more unsettling) of their situation to the whole family, or even just being at Julian’s wedding and feeling horribly out of place among all the rich folks, but still….it was pretty weird.
It did, however, show skill. Joe knew she had that club thing, but wondered idly if Ginger meant to go anywhere with her art – or try to, anyway. Being an artist wasn’t quite up there with being a nineteenth-century explorer on the list of unrealistic occupation goals, but it was still…pretty unrealistic, really. However, Ginger had had a rich boyfriend, so if that worked out for her the way it usually did for people with her and Jake’s surnames even if someone else ended up filling Jake’s role in the story, she could do as she pleased and not need to worry about that kind of thing, as he realized with a wince as he put his name on the sign-up sheet, he was really going to have to do soonish more than laterish….
