[Post Game, 1st Year Girls Dorm] Tears of defeat
by Ginger Pierce
Ginger had showered and changed into dry clothes as a matter of necessity, but once these tasks had been completed, there was nothing preventing her from throwing herself onto her bed, burying her face into her pillow, and sobbing. Teppalus had lost and she had done nothing, absolutely nothing, to reduce the amount of points they had earned against her team. Every shot they had taken, they had made. Despite all her effort and practice, Ginger might as well have not been there all and had the same effect on the game.
She cried.
She cried because she didn't see how she could have done any better even with more practice and Pecari was supposed to be the easier of the two other House teams. The Aladrens were the reigning champions anyway, and she didn't see how a couple more months of practice could make enough difference that she wouldn't be equally crushed at their next game later in the year.
She cried because there was a difference between loosing honorably and being totally humiliated in defeat, and Ginger felt the game today had been the later.
She cried because she felt she'd been useless to her team.
She cried because her team lost and losing was never fun anyway. She had no illusions that it was in any way her fault that they lost - she certainly did not envy Uzume Shinohara her position, though Ginger certainly didn't blame her for losing either, if Annabelle Pierce had been even half as ruthless as her Chaser teammates - but she certainly hadn't done anything to help them win either.
Ginger cried, deeply and thoroughly enough that she was completely oblivious when the door to her shared room opened and she was no longer alone.
