QUIDDITCH ANNOUNCEMENT - 7TH YEARS by Headmistress Kijewski-Jareau
(OOC: This is a week after the Opening Feast)Kiva sat at her desk in her office preparing to create the notice she intended on hanging up in all four common rooms. She had contemplated just saying all of this at the feast as she knew the announcements regarding Quidditch would have been upsetting, but she figured that since it only pertained to the Seventh years and that people weren’t likely to pay attention anyway, Kiva had decided to simply write the notices and have them see them in a few days.
Unfortunately, what happened after the announcements from the students had Kiva utterly appalled. The behavior that she had seen displayed in not only the younger years (which she had felt was completely unnecessary since they would be able to continue playing in the following years) but especially from the Seventh years. They were adults, but they behaved like two year olds throwing tantrums. Not literally, of course, but with their body movements and their emotions. Kiva wasn’t blind and over the week, she had kept an eye on them and their behaviors. She normally left anything dealing with Quidditch to Amelia, but if she saw anyone step out of line, Kiva would pull her Headmistress card and ban them from the pitch entirely. It had not been her idea to remove Quidditch this year and had only done so when the staff had all agreed to it. She didn’t like to be considered the bad guy, but as she’s the one who gives the students this information, she expected to be just that. However, if she needed to put her foot down with some of these students, she’d do exactly that.
It was disturbing to her to know that these were the students who would be leaving Sonora at the end of the year and representing the school in the coming years. Not all of them, of course, some of them handled the situation with grace. However, what was done was done and either they would continue to throw their tantrums and be removed or they would grow up and be the adults that they were. In the meantime, Kiva had done her due diligence and ensured that those who wanted to continue with their Quidditch education still had those opportunities. After all, she would never deprive her students of anything and Sonora was not the first school to cancel their Quidditch season for other curricular activities. Recruiters were not always happy with this, but they were dealing with Magical schools and so, they had to learn to be flexible.
QUIDDITCH NOTICE FOR SEVENTH YEARS
As news of the cancellation has settled, I wanted to make sure you were aware that I have been in communication with Recruiters for Universities as well as Professional teams who have previously come to Sonora. In our correspondence, the Recruiters have agreed to still make their rounds to Sonora despite the lack of games. They feel that they can still assess the abilities of our students through practices and scrimmages as they feel during training, a person’s traits, teamwork, and leadership skills are just as apparent as they would be during a game.
However, they will need the schedule for when your teams will be training so that Coach Pierce and I can keep the Recruiters up to date. Please keep in mind that we will also provide character assessments when requested and both Coach Pierce and I have been very observant this last week regarding your behaviors. We will be honest and forthcoming with our assessments. We ask that you remain courteous, respectful, and professional during this time of adjustment.
