Kirstenna was just finishing up a letter to her parents, telling them about making the Quidditch team. Her father would be so proud of her. He hadn't played Keeper, he'd been a Chaser but as much as Kirstenna loved and looked up to her father, she was not him and she was really not good at Chaser. Kirstenna knew he'd be okay with that. He wasn't like Quentin's parents who expected everything just how they wanted it.
She had also told them about the people she met, mentioning Sophia and Brian and Dmitri and Pippa and her teachers. Kirstenna thought that her dad would be especially happy about Pippa speaking to her. What the letter lacked, she noticed, was much about her roommates. They all seemed like nice girls but Kirstenna had yet to really speak to them much. Between her Quidditch practices, and classes and meeting all sorts of new people, she'd really not gotten a chance to get to know them.
And that, in Kirstenna's book, was a shame. She wanted to get to know her roommates and hopefully become friends with them all. Getting along with people you had to be in close quarters with was necessary. Kirstenna knew this first hand, given she didn't have an actual house and lived in a mobile home that could go from circus ground to circus ground. It was pretty tight and Kirstenna suspected it was part of the reason she was an only child. (The other part being that if her mom was pregnant, she couldn't perform.)
That being an only child was another reason Kirstenna wanted to make a lot of friends. That would be the next best thing to having siblings. Sure, there were other circus kids that she was friends with at home, but Kirstenna was a little different even from them. They were muggles and already performing in some cases. She was a witch and wasn't.
She also wanted to get to know her relatives here better. They couldn't all be like her grandparents, Quentin and Pippa weren't. Kirstenna would have to ask one of them who else they were all related to.
Kirstenna heard the door creak open and grinned. "Hey!" She greeted the other person enthusiatically, giving them a huge smile.
