Captain Hannah Laurent

April 07, 2010 12:51 AM
After storming out of the Hall, Hannah had gone straight to her room. The password had been easy enough since Lucie always made sure older years had it before the end of Feast so that no one got locked out. She was realistic enough to know that not everyone might go to the dorm at the same time. For this, she was rather thankful, because the Teppenpaw dorms was the only guaranteed place for her that she would not run into her ex. She was also thankful, because she was rather angry and needed an outlet. She had the perfect project.

Out of her trunk, she got construction paper, markers, glitter, construction paper, and her Charms book. She was going to make the best Quidditch sign-up sheet ever. She had just had to. Gabrielle had graduated least year and she couldn’t count that all members would return. She the team was going to need all the help it could get if they were going to beat Oliver the Crotalus team. All right, admittedly, she probably didn’t have any real right to be mad at him. She hadn’t exactly been faithful either, but she also hadn’t planned on breaking up with him until the end of year.

Instead, now she was always going to remember breaking up with her first boyfriend at the Opening Feast of her very last year forever. The night was supposed to be a happy one, because it meant that she was graduating soon, that she was actually an adult. However, she certainly didn’t feel like one, but at the moment, she didn’t care. Why couldn’t he have just sucked it up until at least a week into school? Seriously? Or why couldn’t he have done it sooner? Like over summer? Maybe she was better off without him. He was as bright as a…a…flobberworm! She hated him! She hated him!

Wiping at her brow, exhausted, she leaned back in her chair. It was nearly finished. All of the anger had been thrown behind the poster and she thought it looked pretty good, but she still wanted to add some charms. Flipping through her textbook, she found a few that would work. She was pretty decent at charms so they weren’t hard to do at all. Once that was done, she crept down the stairs, hoping that they hadn’t led the first years in. It was really best to avoid people at the moment les she find out that Oliver had some distant cousin that ended up in the House. Then, she would probably flip on the poor kid.

Relieved that no one was, she hung the poster up on the bulletin board, which read:

Quidditch Sign-up Sheet

Once that was done, Hannah went back up to her room and flopped down onto the bed. Now that she was no longer mad, she could begin to think a little more rationally. Okay, Oliver was an idiot, but he didn’t shoulder the entire blame. It wasn’t as though she had gotten in touch with him over the summer. She could have just as easily written that ‘Dear John’ letter, but she hadn’t. And maybe it was a little mean of her to throw spaghetti all over him. That was just the inner Dupree in her. Maybe she should apologize. Maybe not. He had been eyeing another girl at the dance. Flipping over, she punched her pillow. Breakups were hard.

Tobar Brishen

April 07, 2010 1:39 AM
Tobar wasn’t all that excited about school but the one thing he was excited about was Quidditch. Last year he had been the Keeper and this year he wanted to return to the team. He had come up the to Commons as soon as the feast was over and saw the Quidditch sign up sheet already up. “Sweet!” He said to himself and ran up to the dorm room.

He dug around in his trunk and pulled out a self-inking quill. With that he jogged back down and signed the sign up sheet quickly.
Tobar Brishen Second year Keeper or Chaser

With that he smiled and stepped back and looked at it. He was going out for either position again because he was willing to try a new position. With that he nodded and made his way back up to the dorm to unpack.

Colleen Ryan

April 15, 2010 10:31 AM
Colleen had walked past the notice enough times to know exactly what it read, yet she still hadn’t picked up the nerve to write her name down. She wasn’t afraid of making a fool of herself; she wasn’t one to get embarrassed easily. The problem was more of what her parents would say. Colleen scrunched up her face. She didn’t want to regret not acting, yet she didn’t know if she had the right skills to even play Quidditch. She grabbed a quill and gave herself a mental shove. She walked to the notice board and signed the sheet quickly.

Colleen Ryan - First Year - Beater

When she stepped back, she grinned. She felt better and there was no need for her parents to ever find out. All she could do was cross her fingers and hope that she had made the right decision.

Brian Moore

April 16, 2010 5:51 PM
Flying lessons had been great! Brian couldn’t get over how much fun he had while floating around on his broom. Okay, so sure he struggled a bit getting his broom up. And, yeah, he got whacked in the face by his broom when it did decide to come up. And alright, so he got a bloody nose in the process and stained his new robes. So what? He had fun doing it, and that’s all that matters in the grand scheme of things.

He noticed the Quidditch poster and smiled at the moving graphics. He was wowed by the magic all around him. He checked to see if he knew anyone who had signed up. The only named he recognized was Colleen’s since he talked to her with his roommate, Dmitri, at the Opening Feast. He hoped his roommate would sign up so they could all hang out again together. But he also looked forward to meeting new people – and this was a great way to do that, too.

With his mind made up, he took out his quill and started to write himself up to be a member of the Crotalus team:

Brian Moore, First Year, Keeper

He nodded at his signature before putting his quill in his bag and walking off to breakfast.

Andrew Duell

Andrew stood in the common room looking at the Quidditch team sign-up sheet. He had signed up for the team last year, but hadn't quite made the cut. Would he this time around? Was it worth trying again? He wasn't a great flyer, that was for certain. He wasn't horrible either, but... there were definitely people better than him. He tried to picture what the year would be like if he was on the team, and then how it may go if he wasn't. After a few minutes he made the sudden realization that he'd been standing in front of this piece of paper far longer than he should have been. He glanced around the room quickly seeing if anyone was wondering what in the world he was doing... then signed the paper quick and hurried off to do anything else.

Kirstenna Melcher

April 18, 2010 8:00 PM
At her first flying lesson of the year, Kirstenna had fallen in love with it. She felt so free up on a broom. (Not that she normally felt constrained, but the point was that she had really enjoyed flying.)

Maybe it was in her blood...though on her mom's side. While her dad had played when he was at school here, his family tended not to be into flying much. They were all about academics. However, her mom, like all her family before her were trapeze artists.

Perhaps Kirstenna was meant to be up in the air. To soar through the clouds.

And playing Quidditch was a way to do it. She looked over the list, trying to decide what position she wanted. Kirstenna didn't think she had it in her to be a Beater. She just couldn't harm people that way. She also didn't think she was experienced enough to be a Chaser and the captain was the team's Seeker.

Keeper seemed just right. Kirstenna took out a quill and signed her name to the list.
