Choosing spots for the Teppenpaw team had been a difficult decision for Hannah. It was one that she hadn’t really had to make in previous years, because then she had been barely able to get a full team. She had been especially worried this year since she had lost Afton to graduating, but with the eagerness of the first years and by the grace of returning players, she had more than enough for a full team, even enough for a couple reserves, which had made choosing a challenging task. She didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings since everyone was good enough to be on the team, but only seven people could have official spots, leaving two to be reserves.
Admittedly, those that had been on the team before had been given preference, but it had still left Tobar, Andrew, and Nathaniel. She really wasn’t even sure why Nathaniel had wanted on the team since he didn’t seem like the type, but she guessed that someone had asked him to. If she had to guess, Hannah would say Lucie, but then, she probably blamed more on the other girl than she should. Of course, she wouldn’t admit to such a thing, because that would have been too rational and grudges never were. She wasn’t going to punish Nathaniel for it though. She had considered him like everyone else and had decided that he was best put in the spot of a reserve since he seemed less enthusiastic and less coordinated than the other two.
So, then there were two. Both were fairly beginner, but both had potential and were willing to learn. Their styles had been pretty well matched as well, which made it all the harder to choose. If it hadn’t been for the seniority clause, Hannah would have put them both on the team, but there had been, and therefore, there could only be one. In a million years, she would never admit to how she had picked Tobar over Andrew, but she had and she prayed to Merlin that it was the right one as she put up the Quidditch list on the bulletin board.
