Josaih finished unpacking his stuff. His wand, which had his family crest singed into it, was sitting on a stand on his bedside table. The stand also bore the family crest, A silver ash tree against a sky blue backdrop. His bed was made perfectly and he felt proud that he had not had Chipper make it for him. His trunks were slid under the matress and he had a selection magazines on his desk on various topics; cars, motercycles, and quidditch were just a few. He had no intrest in playing the sport, but he did enjoy watching it.
Finally, he placed a mirror next to his wand and buttoned a leather wand pouch onto his belt loop. The pouch also had the Ashwood crest on it. He grined, enjoying the overall effect that his area had. Dignity, but alot of pure boyish nonesense. He then sat down on his bed, careful not to mess up the sheets, and waited. When the door finally opened, he jumped up and said, "Hey there! Josaih Ashwood of the Noble Ashwood house. Who are you? \n\n

Law had been taking a walk around the school, getting a lay of the land, or to be more precise, the hallways. A couple of times he had had to ask older students for help finding his way, especially since the hallways seemed to enjoy changing their destinations, and walls often pretended to be doors, and vice versa. Such were the norms of being in a magical school, he figured. Law liked to think of it as a big adventure.
He'd finished packing the night before, which was only to be expected as he was a get-it-done type of kid. The headboard of his bed was adorned with Quidditch paraphanelia. On top there were two pennants crossed like an "x," a red, white, and blue one of the old "New York Skyscrapers" and a relatively new pennant of "The Moose Jaw Meteorites." Below were three Quidditch cards, each authographed by the person depicted on the card; Tabitha Cooper, the late Ted Cooper, and the late Greg Forrester. All three were related to him, aunts and uncles who should still be playing, or just retiring. but Ted and Greg had been killed before their time, and Aunt Tabby had just found it too hard to play after their deaths. Law tried not to think about that too much. Below the cards were dozens of pictures of him and his friends and family. They waved at him and smiled amiably, fighting and laughing and playing with each other. He missed them. He decided to go back to his dorm and look at the pictures again.
But the plans of the tall, heavy, brown-haired boy were delayed when as soon as he opened the door to his dorm- he was bombarded with the words of his apparently one and only roommate.
"Law," was all he could manage to get out, and then realized that probably sounded pretty stupid, "Lawrence Cooper, but everyone calls me Law, of the Quidditch-playing Coopers," he added as an afterthought, "So I guess we're roommates."\n\n
Hikaru slowly walked into the common room and looked around...he had unpacked the night before but had all of his stuff under his bed and packed into the dresser. He approached the door slowly so he could grab his school bag and said "Hey...I'm your other roomie...see ya" Hikaru grabbed his bag and walked out of the room.\n\n

As if the sudden appearance of one roommate wasn't enough, the third Teppenpaw first year boy, randomly enterred the room. Law blinked, not knowing what to say as the other boy as he got his things and exited so abruptly. The brown-haired boy wasn't used to that kind of behavior. Usually at home, if you were meeting someone you foresaw spending a lot of time with, you at least exchanged names. Did the other boy not want to be friends with Law and the Josiah kid? Or was he just being rude? Law didn't know.
"What's up with him?" Law asked Josiah, still staring at the doorway, "What's his name, anyway?"
Law made his way towards his bed, kneeled down next to it, and dragged out a roll of parchment and a blue draw-string bag of self-inking quills. He lied on his stomach on his bed and opened the bag to reveal one green-feathered quill, unrolled some of his parchment, and began writing a letter to his family back in Oregon.
"So where are you from, anyway?" he asked Josiah, looking up from his letter. He hoped that by walking to his bed and writing he hadn't been rude. Law hadn't meant to be anyway, it was just that he figured he ought to write home before his mom got worried or something.\n\n
"Okay...dont be nice!" Josaih shouted out the door after his third roomate. "Must be a real jerk! Can't even stay to chat!" He grinned. "Ahh, his name isn't importaint!" He added with a shrug.
"You sure like the word 'anyway' don't you?" he joked, "I dont live to far from here. Dad has to stay close to Sonora, he is part of the American Magical Governament. Dunno the proper name of it. I know mother would flay me alive if she knew I forgot it. Anyways, we have to live close-by because Dad helps in the education department. He just has to interview random kids from random schools, like Salem and here, and see if they like school just fine. I think that would be very boring but," he shrugged, "that's his thing and it brings home the galleons, doesn't it? Of course Mother just lazes about all day while Chipper does all the work! She doesn't even want me to have Mortemer, my raven, in the house."
He finally paused for breath, realising that he did speak pretty fast. "No problem if you didn't catch half of that, mostly my ramblings. My apologies for that." he said with a small incline of his head. \n\n

Law shrugged his shoulders at Josiah's comment to the anyways, he hadn't even noticed that he did it. It happened to him sometimes, where he would be stuck on a word for a couple of weeks and he would just randomly stick it into conversations. Then it would die down, and in a few more weeks, a new word would be making frequent appearances in Law's conversations.
Law's eyebrow's furrowed as Josiah spoke. Apparently, he lived nearby because his dad had some important government job and his mom didn't do anything and somebody called Chipper did all the work. That sounded nothing like his parents, they owned a magical bookstore. Some of the books were really wild, they changed color, or pretended to be other books. Some read the pages to you while others would try to distract you from the page at hand. If Law had been a bookworm, this would have been his dream place, but he was much more of an outdoors kind of kid.
"S'okay," he said, in answer to Josiah's apology, and continued to write his letter to his parents, "Must be nice to have your family nearby." Lawvcertainly knew that ever since he came to Sonora he had felt kind of homesick. Sure Sonora was loud and bustling, like back at home, but it wasn't the same. He didn't know these people. He didn't have any friends here to joke around with. If he was lucky, that would change.\n\n

Hikaru suddenly remembered his manners and realized what he had done. He rushed back into the room just enough to hear the end of their conversation, "I am sooooooo sorry! I totally forgot about my manners!" he bowed hastily. "I didn't properly introduce myself, my name is Hikaru Kasuragi of House Mitsurago...I come from Japan/America and I have just been forgeting my proper manners!" He flushed slightly and stuttered "If...ther..theres anything I can do to make this up to you please let me know!" Hikaru truly hoped his roomates wouldn't be mad at him\n\n
