Captain Jake Santoro

February 07, 2006 2:38 AM
Jake had spent a relatively quiet time since his return to Sonora. The summer had been busy as usual and he still needed to recover from all of it. Most of the summer he had spent on his Quidditch league, they ended in third place. But when he wasn't on his broom he was either carted off to Madrid or to Mexico to visit the relatives.

It was all very exhausting.

So, he had stayed low-key during the opening feast. Though he found Marnett's disappearance unsettling simply because even though she was a strange old bat, she was fun to listen to. And as soon as he had finished eating, he had made his way as quickly as possible back to his dorm to settle in. Since then, he simply waited until classes began and kept himself busy by writing in his play book and chatting with his roommate.

Now, however, he had to get down to business. He made his way down to the notice board. His dark eyes scanned the commonroom, taking in the new firsties, before he finally shrugged and pinned his notice up. He inspected in for a moment, unconsciously allowing a brown hand to run though his longer than normal black hair. It was no longer that couple of millimeters short hair, but had grown out a few inches. He actually liked it this length. Made him look older.

Once done inspecting the parchment, Jake finally left the common room. On the notice board was his sheet saying:

QUIDDITCH SIGNUPS/TRY-OUTS

For those interested in playing Quidditch or for those who had already previously been on the team, please feel free to signup for try-outs. Try-outs for any spot will take place on Friday. Walk-ins are always welcomed.

Please follow the guidelines for signing up by following my example. If you have never played Quidditch before or do not know what Quidditch is, please make sure to make a note of that beside your name and I'll see what I can do about that.

Thank you for your time and patience.

Rob Stone

Rob walked into the Teppenpaw common room and looked around. It truly was a beautiful sight. The couches looked reall comfortable, the maroon and yellow colors seemed to send calm feelings through the room, and it just made Rob want to relax. He looked at the armchairs that seemed to be calling him to sit, and watched as the fireplace glowed, matching the colors of his house almost. Rob took a glance a the notice board before he sat down, and was glad that he did.

QUIDDITCH SIGNUPS/TRY-OUTS

That caught Rob's eye for sure. Rob loved sports, he had played soccer when he was younger, and had read about Quidditch. It sounded a lot like soccer, but the magical version. Rob definately wanted to try out. But what position? He remembered there were beaters, chasers, seekers, and keepers. He didn't really want to be a beater, he wasn't that good at baseball, a muggle sport his dad had wanted him to play. A chaser, that would be kind of fun, he was already used to scoring. But it was with their hands, not their feet, so Rob wasn't completely sure. It would be fun scoring though... Rob thought about being a seeker. He had a good eye, but he preferred to be more involved in what was going on, then just waiting and making one play. So that narrowed it to keeper or chaser. Rob wondered whether he could try out for more than one position. It was worth a shot.

Dalila Bastet

February 08, 2006 8:59 PM
Ahh...freedom. It tasted so sweet, especially at the end of a particularly boring day of classes. Dalila trudged into the common room and leaving her bookbag by the door, plopped down on the nearest couch. That is until a familiar piece of parchment with a familiar handwriting and familiar words caught her attention.

Jumping off the couch with renewed energy, Dalila grabbed her bag from the doorway and pulled out a ruffled quill and an almost empty bottle of ink(having spilled it that day in class) and hastily signed her name.

Kaylie Brockert

February 12, 2006 5:07 PM
Kaylie yawned and plodded down the stairs. She hadn't slept that great because it was earlier than she was used to. Plus there'd been a mixture for her of the excitement of the new year and worry over her brother. Adam had seemed horribly upset last night. Now, Kaylie had to go down for breakfast where she'd hopefully see him. (He might be hiding in his room yet, out of fear of the large eating area filled with people).

Before she could exit the Teppenpaw common room, a notice caught her eye. Quidditch! Kaylie grinned. She loved the sport and loved being Seeker. She didn't even take into consideration how her new blossoming figure might affect her abilities for a position that was traditionally for those small and light. Well, she wasn't fat . Far from it. Kaylie was just a bit more top-heavy than last year.

She walked over and put down her name.

Kaylie Brockert, 3rd year, Seeker.

Smiling, she turned and left the room, going down to the Hall, hopefully to see Adam.

Tally

February 16, 2006 12:30 AM
Tally had had a remarkable first few days while here at Sonora. So far, nothing extraordinary had happened and for that, she was grateful. Some of her friends look completely different from her last time of seeing them just before summer had hit. And, in a way, that saddened Tally. She didn't think she seemed any different, so why was it that everyone else was?

Oh well, nothing to really keep her mind preoccupied over. Tally stretched her growing body long as she stood in the common room reading over the sign up sheet. She was happy to see that Jake had gotten around to doing it. But...where was he anyway? She hadn't seen him around lately.

But, back to the subject of the matter. It didn't take her long to figure out that she was going to sign up. Quidditch was really the one thing she couldn't wait to do. And, hopefully, this year they would have enough players for a game.

Dillon Welsh

February 18, 2006 8:59 PM
Dillon stared at the parchment with such a harsh glare that someone was sure to think the parchment had done something terribly wrong. When, the fact was, Dillon was trying to figure out if he really wanted to sign up for the team this year.

Last year it had been Jake who had taken it upon himself to sign Dillon up for the team instead of consulting him about it first. It ended up working out in the end considering they didn't end up playing because of the weather conditions. Besides, he had been made keeper, which was a lot like Goalie in Soccer except for the fact that he was on a broom...and there were three hoops to his one goal.

Dillon sighed. He and Zoey had spent all that time practicing during the summer just so that they could be used to having a broom under their buttocks and being off the ground that if he didn't sign up for it, it would have all been for a huge waste. Plus, he knew Jake was counting on him. They were roommates after all.

Lexi Stafford

February 22, 2006 9:12 PM
Lexi was never a big fan of quidditch. Growing up, she had learned the rules, but only because Ben and Patrick, her two brothers, had taken away her cleats until she could recite them from memory. It was a dirty tactic that had been meant to make her enjoy the magical sport. Needless to say, it hadn’t worked. Lexi, while being the most athletic of the three siblings, had never understood the point of quidditch, and so had stuck to her muggle sport club teams.

However, coming to Sonora, all that changed. As the year went on, Lexi found herself growing more and more restless, and developing more and more pent up aggression. She tried to blame it on the weather, mainly, but deep down, she knew the truth. She needed something to do. Something besides the classwork and the humdrum everyday activities.

This feeling was only compounded when she went home last summer. All the girls on the club teams she used to play for had made it clear that, while they weren’t going to actually tell her she wasn’t welcome, they would make that message clear. So she had moped around the house for a few weeks, and the only beings safe from her pent-up anger were the animals living in her room that had taken refuge from one thing or another. Everything else had been fair game.

The plot to make her start doing something productive rather than destructive had probably been the brainchild of her eldest brother, Patrick, but her twin had replied with equal fervor. When one day the quidditch teams composed of her brothers and all their friends ‘mysteriously’ became uneven, Lexi had been given an ultimatum: she would either start playing, or would have to deal with the congregation of teenage guys trying to make her miserable the rest of the summer. She didn’t think Patrick would actually allow his friends to do something like that to her, but she hadn’t wanted to risk it. So she had agreed.

While keeper was too stationary for her, and chaser and seeker were a bit too passive, it was soon discovered that she was made to be a beater, and so Lexi had grown to enjoy the sport. When she came down one day in the first few weeks of school and seen the sign up sheet, she had realized that she didn’t want to spend another year feeling like she did last year, and so, after rummaging around in her bag for a quill, scrawled

Pepper Jones

March 06, 2006 10:01 AM
Quidditch was one of those alarming new words that had been bandied about quite frequently since her arrival, and Pepper had picked up on the fact that it was a sport that involved flying, and seemed rather dangerous. However, it also sounded like it might be quite good fun. Teams were a good way to meet other people as well, and - as far as Pepper was concerned - the more people she surrounded herself with, the better. She also thought Theo would never forgive her for passing up the opportunity. Eager not to disappoint even an absent sibling, she headed over to the sign up sheet a few days after it had been posted, once she felt she'd got her head around all the positions.

'Pepper Jones, first year, Keeper' she wrote. Noticing Rob, who she liked, had also signed up for the position, and not wanting to be in absolute, direct competition with him, she added '(or anything, no experience)'.

She stepped away from the sheet, unable to shake the feeling that that made her look like she didn't have a clue. Other people would be, or would have been in the same position. She'd chosen Keeper on the basis that that sounded roughly equivalent to the experience she had from playing soccer with Theo. Although once it got transferred onto broomsticks, whether her amateur skills were to be of any help to her remained to be seen...\n\n
