The bane of my existance. by Kaylie Brockert

Kaylie arrived at the entrance to the Teppenpaw common room floating her trunk behind her. She'd had a wonderful break, celebrating with her family. Her trunk was heavy with her gifts and she wore a new bright red robe.

The best part of the break had been seeing her brother Adam though. He'd been so excited when Kaylie arrived.....and so sad when she left. They both knew it would be the last time she'd go back to Sonora without him, though. Next year he'd be there too, hopefully in Teppenpaw.

Kaylie scowled a little as she tried to remember the complicated dance steps to get into the common room. Scowling was not a typical expression for Kaylie, but she hated this dance with a passion. Not that she cared about making a fool of herself, but if nobody else was around, it would take her forever to get in. In fact, she had yet to get it right and usually ended up waiting for someone else to come by and do it so she could get in.

Suddenly, her trunk crashed behind her. Fortunately there was nothing alive or breakable in it,since her ferret,Irie was in her pocket. Irie wasn't normally kept there, but she didn't like the ride to Sonora in the covered wagon. Kaylie sighed and sat down on the trunk, waiting for someone to show up and let her in like always. The whole dance thing made her wonder if Adam wouldn't be happier in a different house. After all, even though he wasn't a klutz like Kaylie, dancing and physical activity wasn't his thing, and he wouldn't be able to handle it if he embarassed himself.

Let me unbane your existence a bit by Dalila Bastet

No matter how much she loved her family, Dalila couldn't o magic there and was therefore thrilled to be back at Sonora. Directing her trunk with her wand she almost ran to the teppenpaw commonroom if her robes had allowed it. She giggled to herself to think how her strict grandmother would react if she knew her dear Dalila was running. She could just hear her grandmother's words: "Running is unlady-like!"

She reached the entranced and stopped short causing her wand to jerk and the trunk to hit the ceiling with a loud, echoing thunk! before crashing into the floor behind her.

Dalila clutched her heart. Loud noises freaked her out.

"Sorry 'bout that," Dalila said between gasps of air.
"What're you doing out here?"

Oh, let me help by Lexi Stafford

Lexi had had a most excellent holiday. She and her twin brother, Ben, had gone up to New York City to spend it with their mother, father, and older brother. NYC was perhaps her favorite place in the world to be, the only true competition being her grandfather’s manor in England. Her hometown had a magical feeling about it, one that even here couldn’t rival. It had been wonderful to have been home

It had been just as wonderful to be with her family as well. She had gone to the hospital with her dad a few times while she had been there, which was how the two had always bonded. She had always been closer to her father than her mother, the latter having always spent half the time trying to make it as an actress. However, she hadn’t had any auditions during the break, so Lexi was able to spend some time with her as well. And then Patrick had been around constantly, so the three kids had been able to hang out.

Neither twin had mentioned Sonora’s recent problems to any family members. If Sonora had sent out any information, it appeared to have gotten lost on the way, probably an owl getting stuck in a blizzard and buried in snow. Their mother would only panic if she knew, and want to get them out of the magical world as much as she could. Gloria Stafford had always been slightly paranoid of magic. No one could blame her, though. She had been thrown out of her family for marrying a “freak of nature,” like Lexi’s father, and still refused to have anything to do with Julia or her children.

Lexi’s dad would probably not be that extreme with his reaction, but he two would probably want the twins closer to home, and would probably try to transfer to the school Patrick went to, just outside the city limits. And Lexi truly didn’t want that. She liked her school, despite the possible insanity of the headmistress, her head of house, and possible every other teacher in this school. She might not have any truly good friends at Sonora, besides her brother, but her roommates were nice, and nobody seemed exceptionally cruel, besides that second year Craven, who seemed to get some kind of high off being mean to those littler than her.

Lexi dragged her trunk through countless halls before finally reaching the entrance to the Teppenpaw common room. There were two other girls there, a second year named Kaylie something or other, who Lexi only knew by sight, and Dalila, one of Lexi’s roommates. Lexi didn’t know Dalila all that well, but the girl always seemed nice enough, if a bit klutzy.

Right on cue, Dalila lost control of her levitated trunk, which went flying up towards the ceiling, and then came crashing back down to earth with an impressive crash. Lexi bit back a laugh. Levitation might be the easiest way of getting trunks places, but, thanks to a ridiculous amount of upper body workouts from lacrosse camps and stuff, Lexi had no difficulties dragging hers along, and so thusly managed to avoid the little things like that.

“Hey, you guys,” she said brightly as she joined their little group. “Does one of you remember the dance?” Lexi hoped so. She could do it, but not with any sort of grace, and preferred not to do it whenever anyone else was around. She turned to Dalila, not meaning to be rude to the older student, but feeling a bit uncomfortable since she didn’t know her at all, “So, Dalila, how was your holiday?”

Please do. by Dalila

Dalila shot around as Lexi's Hey, you guys! reached her ears, but instead of clutchingher heart and breathing heavily, Dalila grinned broadly.

"Hey, Lexi!" she said, always grateful for someone she knew, at least a little. "Yuppers, I memerized the dance as soon as I could. My mother and grandmother were Tepps so they both owled me the second I got in to make sure I never got locked out."

She began the complicated jig, while answering Lexi's question.

"It was fine. The only the was that my dad didn't w--" she stopped the same time she finished the dance, and the entrance to the commonroom opened. She levitated her trunk and started up again like nothing had interupted her.

"want me coming back after that storm. But my grandmother persuaded him to let me. So here I am!" The trunk emphasized how much she really was here by crashing into a chair and knocking it over before hitting the floor again.

"Whoops!," Dalila said with a smile. She righted the chair and leaving her trunk where it was, walked over to Kaylie and Lexi.

"So, how was your vacation?" Then she realized they had been ignoring Kaylie a bit and Dalila blushed. She hated leaving people out...unless they were stupid. Then Dalila could take the time to deal with them.

"And yours too, Kaylie," Dalila said with an over-exuberant smile.\n\n

Tally Adams

Just decided to jump in by Tally Adams

Tally had arrived at the school an hour earlier and had immediately come to the common room so that she could unpack her things. During this time, Tally had been unaware of much else. All she wanted to do was unpack, relax, and then have some fun before classes officially started again.

Now that she was done packing, Tally turned her attention to the tank, ready to place Tadpole within it. "Tad, time to eat!" She called out, looking to her bed for her frog, only to find it empty. "Hm." Tally frowned and began searching around her bed and the surrounding room for him. But to no success. "Now where in the worl-" She saw that she had left the door adjar. Damn. He got out.

Tally left her room and walked up the stairs first, just to make sure none of the other rooms were open for Tad to sneak in to. Now that she was satisfied to find that he wasn't in there, Tally made her way down the stairs, hearing voices as she went.

As she emerged from the stairs, she noticed who was in the commonroom. One of those being her roommates, "KAYLIE! I'm so glad to see you!" Tally momentarily ignored the other two in the room, "I've gone and lost Tad again, have you seen him?"\n\n

Kaylie

I had no idea I was so popular.... by Kaylie

OOC-Sorry, I'm paraphrasing what was in the previous posts and I apologize if I remember something wrong.BIC:

Kaylie was pleased to see Dalila, who she knew from Quidditch, arrive. Dalila seemed pretty nice and friendly. She was about to respond to the younger girl that she was stuck outside because of the stupid dance when another first year who Kaylie didn't know but thought was named Lexi or something arrived and asked about the dance. Dalila performed the dance and the entrance opened. She went through it, floating her trunk around without incident.

Dalila asked about her holiday and Kaylie responded "It was great! I got to see my family again including my brother who I'm very close to." She grinned "And my parents said I could stay because I was already established here and are even going to send my brother here next year." Because if they didn't, Adam would probably have some sort of breakdown. Aside from his attachment to and dependency on Kaylie, their parents didn't want to send him further away or to one of the schools in California that some of her cousins on her mom's side went to. Particularily the one Devin went to, as he was horrible to Adam. They didn't want to even send him to Salem with Marshall, who'd just transferred there this term, because not only was it clear on the other side of the country but Marshall would only be there with Adam for two years. It would be much better for him to be with Kaylie.

She heard her name called. Kaylie looked in the direction of the voice that was yelling for her."Tally!" She squealed,"How are you? How was your holiday?" Kaylie listened as Tally mentioned her frog was missing "Sorry,I haven't seen him. I just got here but I'll help you look." \n\n

Well, now you know! by Tally

Tally had to blink a couple of times when Kaylie started talking. Kaylie, in Tally's opinion, had a habit of saying a lot of things in a short amount of time and, as Tally got to know her, she discovered that she had a hard time keeping up with the other girl.

But when Kaylie answered her question about Tad, Tally frowned and gave the commonroom a quick look over the common room, her eyes stopping on the other girls. One she recognized from Quidditch. What was her name? Dafney...no...Dana....no...Dalia...no...Dalila! "Hey Dalila." Tally said with a smile in greeting. The other girl she didn't know, but she acknowledged her with a nod of her head.

"My holiday was alright. Dad had to go off again on another assignment, but Josh and Angel were there to keep me company." Tally replied to Kaylie, walking around the common room as she did, hoping to find her beloved frog. "Josh told me that they were thinking of not sending me back, can you believe it?" Tally said, the astonishment of such a thing still clear in her voice. "I talked him out of it, of course. Anyway, how was your guys' holiday?"\n\n

Of course you're popular...you know me! by Dalila

While Dalila knew very little about any of these girls, she sat and listened with rapt attention anyways. She loved having friends, and while she barely knew most of them, she counted them as such.

So, when Talia? no...Tally asked how everyone's holidays were, Dalila didn't hesitate a second before saying.

"It was great, but be it ever so humble, there's no place like Sonora!" Dalila then twirled around the commonroom and giggled.

"Don't you guys agree?"\n\n
