Jake had been in the library looking up strategies and tactics for his Quidditch team. He was extremely excited about being made Captain and he wanted to be sure his teammates were at their best.
He wasn't so worried about winning, they were only first and second years after all and had their entire 6 or 7 years to prefect their game, but he wanted to be sure that they at least knew how to play. There may be Muggleborns that had signed up but had only ever been on a broom during their flying lessons with Cooper. If that were the case, Jake had to get started right away.
He made it back to the commonroom carrying an armload of Quidditch books. He set them down at one of the tables and then turned his attention to the occupants within the room. He climbed onto the table and gave a good whistle for their attention.
"HEY!" Jake started when everyone was looking in his direction, "My name is Jake Santoro and I am the new Quidditch Captain. We've got a great start to a potentially great team, but we still need one more to complete it." Jake paused and looked around the room to see if everyone was still listening and hoping, that someone would want to sign up for the last position.
"We need another chaser. If you'd like to play, come talk to me and I'll be happy to add you to our team. Even if you've never even heard of Quidditch, I'll be happy to explain the game to you and teach you everything I know. It's a win-win situation."\n\n

Dalila had spent the last fifteen minutes sitting in the common room thoroughly engrossed in the book on glamour charms she checked out from the library. She absently pulled out her wand from her pocket and practiced some of the movements, while still keeping her eyes plastered to the text.
A shout interupted her concentration, sending her wand clattering to the floor emitting small clouds of purple smoke. Normally Dalila would just pick up her wand and continue reading but the shouter happened to be Jake Santoro, the Teppenpaw Quidditch captain.
She cocked her ear towards him, listening carefully. Apparently, they still needed another chaser. She set her book down and walked over.
"Hey, Jake! Dalila Bastet at you service! Um, I already signed up to be a chaser, and I know all about Quidditch, but I was never allowed to ride a broom at home, so I was wondering if you had any pointers you could give me?" She grinned, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose. \n\n
Of course there is, this is a school, you know.

Jake hadn't actually expected anyone to waltz up to him and speak freely to him about joining the Quidditch team. The whole point of his speech was to make everyone aware that they still needed another player. But, the fact that Dalila Bastet did come up to him and anounce her presence came as such a surprise to Jake that he nearly toppled over backwards off the table he was standing on. With quick movements with his footing, Jake was able to catch himself before he actually fell over.
When he caught himself and was steady once again, Jake looked down at Dalila with his lopsided smile still intact, "Hi Dalila, it's a pleasure to meet you. Just give me a sec, I'll be right down." Jake turned back to his audience in the commonroom. "COME ON PEOPLE! Just one more player, that's all. You do wish to beat Pecari or even Crotalus, right? I mean, they are in the lead with points after all. Besides, where are your House pride?" Jake called out to them. "The signup sheet is by the entrance, if I don't have another name to it, I'll be forced to put one down for you. Don't think I won't" Jake warned them before hopping back down to the floor so that he could stand next to the first year.
"I'm glad to hear that you'll be on the team. I'm also happy to know that you already know Quidditch. As for flying, it's really not all that hard to master. We've got time too. I'll be setting up a practice soon, so I can help you out on the pitch. For now, tell me what it is you're worried about." Jake said with the girl, indicating a set of chairs surrounding the table, "let's sit."\n\n

Dalila waited as Jake yelled another anouncement and took the chair nearest her when he asked her to sit.
"It's nothing too specific," she began. "But it's just that I haven't had much of a chance to learn how except the theory from books. My grandmother thought it wasn't proper for girls to ride brooms, so my first time was that first flying lesson. But she's not here now, so I'll do whatever I feel like." She looked at Jake with wide amber eyes, full of defiance and confidence.
"I guess I was hoping for some pointers to learn how to fly better. And I need help on how to throw a quaffle...I've never even seen one up close unless you count the pictures in my books." She stopped as suddenly as she started and stared at Jake.
good to hear, but I never thought you were.

Jake was momentarily stunned as words began streaming out of Dalila's mouth and ended with a sort of shrewd demanding questions. It was only a moment where he sat speechless and gawking at her, but he recovered rather quickly and gave her a bright grin.
Laughing, Jake answered with a light ease about him, "Of course I can help. Didn't I say that I would try?" He asked her with a slight raise in his eyebrows, "It's best that you've read up on Quidditch so you have the background of it as well as how it all works. All you really need is the practical part of the whole bit, and, like I said, it's easy enough you just practice." Jake turned away from her briefly to scan the room. He knew Tally would easily be a help to him and even Dillon had gotten the hang of things the previous year, though, he had known very little about the game itself. He could simply ask for their helps (and hopefully some of the other teammates so long as they had a clue) to help Dalila incase she was a lost cause to him.
"Listen, I know Tally is a good Chaser, I'll be sure to sick her on you to help you with a quaffle. I'll help you with your flying. I'm going to be posting up a practice schedule and we'll work as hard as we can until you feel comfortable and confident in both your flying skills and your quaffle skills." He paused briefly before continuing, "You and anyone else who needs it. Sound good?"\n\n

Dalila let out an inaudible sigh. He didn't think she was hopeless or weird because of her lack of practice. Not that she would have cared, but in her own opinion, it was better to be friendly with your team captain than hate his guts. It just made things so much easier.
"Great! I can't wait to get started. This is gunna be so much fun with yours and everybody's help." She ran a hand through her streaked hair and grinned broadly (it was the only way to grin if you meant it).
"Ok - so I guess that's it. Set up a practice soon, please? I really really can't wait." Dalila thought for a moment. "I already said that, didn't I? Sorry. I'm just really excited. Well...see yay around!"\n\n
