Mr. Row was feeling a bit less like he might throw up when he finally made his way to the library for his first official session. He'd had a sign up sheet outside of his office with suggested times, and he was surprised to see enough students interested for him to host a time session each of the times he'd suggested. As a result, today's slot was a Monday late afternoon. With dinner in his belly, Killian would've been content to curl up with a cat in front of the fireplace and take a nap. Instead, he was doing his second favorite thing: working with kids.
He arranged himself at a large library table, choosing a seat near a corner to avoid seeming like he was going to be leading some sort of group discussion with everyone who attended. This would be a casual affair, and he hoped to spend time chatting one-on-one with as many students as he could. He knew that some students occasionally had Muggle school correspondence, so he expected to help with everything from mathematics to charms, and thought that general writing skills might be important for all of those.
Several students, he'd been warned, didn't use English fluently at home and were still learning it for the academic sphere of life. He was well aware of his own accent and had made a point of collecting materials in some of the languages he'd been told about, as well as getting some English materials that would be helpful for anyone who didn't understand his Scottish lilt. He'd been in the United States long enough that he might've picked one up by now if he hadn't spent so much time in his home country with family and friends.
Taking his seat and setting out a tray of nibbles he'd requested from the kitchen, Killian made himself comfortable, retrieved some crochet work from his bag, and began occupying himself until the first student arrived. In the middle of the table, near the tray of goodies, was a card with "what's your favorite class and why?" on one side, and "what's something you'd like to improve on?" on the other side. Hopefully, the presence of a conversation topic would help with anyone who was coming out of curiosity more than necessity at this point, and encourage them to keep coming. The best time to get tutoring, or any kind of help, was before you needed it.
The sign-up sheet was on the table in front of him and he looked up from his Afghan (201, 201, 201, mustn't forget, stitch 201) to greet the first student who approached. .
"Hello," he smiled, blinking his dark eyes the way a cat does when it's happy. "What are we working on tonight?"
OOC - Feel free to have students come in pairs/groups and work together, or come individually and work with Mr. Row. You can assume that he's talking to all the students who wish to talk, so they'll just be happening at different times. If you'd like Mr. Row to jump in especially, or would like to chat with him, just tag him in your subject line. He'll probably jump in more than other professors would anyway, but that way I know to reply. :) Have fun!
