Finally getting around to it. (Tag: Dimitri) by Ava Fletcher
After dinner, Ava bounced up to her room. She was excited to show Dimitri his present and hoped he would like it. She had learnt from her mistake last year and instead of chocolate bought him a red and black tie with a Klallam tribal design on it. She hoped he liked whales as the design was an orca that twisted hit's body in stitching up the length of the tie so that it mirrored the shape of the present. She had asked Papa's opinion and it had been the one he liked best though she had personally preferred the humming bird design. Something that had not gone unnoticed by Papa and was now buried in a jewelry box in her suitcase in the form of a necklace. Ava didn't know he had hidden it in there and when she ripped through her clothes to find the wrapped up tie, the box came tumbling out. It was exciting for her when she opened it and she looked to Seal teasingly. "Now, darling, I know you like to eat birds but you mustn't touch this pendant or else Papa will surely be angry with you." She laughed and hooked it around her neck before opening her arms and scooping up Seal. "Now come on, we might be late for meeting Dimitri in the library!"Upon entering the library, Ava found the nook where they had met before and settled in on one of the chairs, Seal curling up in her lap amiably. She reached over and placed the wrapped tie into Dimitri's lap as well as a little ink sketch she'd done up as a card with a note on it that read:
Thanks for being such an awesome friend, I am too lucky to have you! x Ava
She hoped the card wasn't too forward, she had held back the bit about him being her best friend as she didn't want to weird him out but it was the truth. She'd never had a friend before Dimitri and she was glad she had found him. "I hope you like it," she said. "I wanted this year's present to go better than last year's, so I'm crossing my fingers!" She held up her hand with the index and middle fingers crossed tightly.
After they exchanged gifts, Ava smiled at him again. "My mother isn't the most fun loving person on the planet but I think she'd enjoy you. Do you think they'd allow parents to come to the concerts?" Ava wasn't even certain her mom could get time off work to come see it but she really wanted to introduce the two and show her mom how well she was doing at Sonora in case she got any crazy ideas to take her with her traveling somewhere. Ava had gotten the worry after Papa had mentioned how many books on Healing and traveling Ava had been reading and taking notes on and her mother had gotten a far-away idea look in her eye.
