Natalie Simms was the happiest woman on earth! Why you asked? Because she had the best job in the world! She absolutely loved books. They were filled with knowledge and cool stuff that Natalie found interesting and useful. She smiled at the grandeur of Sonora’s library and couldn't help but think that she was very lucky to be here.
She was grateful for the opportunity that Headmistress Powell had given her and she was going to do her best to make sure the Headmistress didn't regret the decision of hiring a 22 year-old for the job. Plus, she had started the job two weeks after the term started, so she had to work extra hard. It hadn’t been her fault really; Natalie had to deal with a major family crisis…something she really didn’t want to do but had to. She sighed remembering her parent’s last words to their only daughter. Natalie felt betrayed but that was life and if they didn’t want her anymore, she didn’t want them either.
The new librarian was carefully examining the recently used books to make sure they were in pristine condition, kids could sometimes be careless. After finally making sure all of them were ok, she used her wand to help her put the books back to their rightful place.
She was humming to herself when she remembered that Headmistress Powell had asked her to post a notice about a new program that would make her job easier. The program would give the students a chance to learn responsibility and more importantly to help them realize how important books, knowledge and learning really were. Some people just thought that those things were stupid and useless. In Natalie’s opinion those people deserved to be punished. She grinned.
She grabbed the notice and posted it in the library’s bulletin board. She was actually looking forward to this new program; it was going to give her an opportunity to actually work with the students.
If you would like to assist Ms Simms with library duties, there are two options available. For those who want a high level of involvement, Library Monitors will help to check books in and out, organise the stacks, answer student queries, and complete occasional errands for the librarian. For those who desire less involvement, Library Assistants will place returned books back to their correct position in the stacks, and help the Library Monitors where necessary. If you would like to be considered for either of these roles, please register your interest by signing your name, year, and role preference below.
After finishing with her task she returned to her desk and continued reading the book about healing charms.

Mariana tentatively stepped inside the library, the smell of musky books and the warmth of comfort that knowledge could only provide surrounding her. If there was one thing Mariana loved, it was reading. It didn't matter what it was, fiction or non, she loved books. They were her getaway from everything stressful in life and especially her parents.
Breifly, Mariana thought of Neal, a Pecari whom she had met in transfiguration. He had been rather nice to her, and a part of her hoped she might become friends with him. But apart of her also knew she probably wouldn't. She was shy and only a first year, it wasn't like she was anybody. Besides, he was probably determined to avoid her, because of her sobbing.
Pushing the thought out of her mind, Mariana perused the shelves for some light reading when she noticed a notice on the bulletin board. At the moment, the librarian was at her desk. Should she go look at it? Maybe it was important, like the checking out regulations. Quietly she stepped through the rows of books, making her way to the notice board. When she was finished reading, she nibbled on her lip. Should she sign? Could she do it? It would be a big responsibility, and being an assistant didn't appeal to her, not really. But a monitor... well, she was only a first year. She probably wouldn't be able to.
But where was the harm? Her family had always told her she should be more involved in school, if she did, she could go to Sapienti after she graduated from here.Nibbling on her lip, Mariana made her decision. She would sign.
Mariana Ravenmore- First year- Library Monitor. (If that is unavailable to first years, may you consider me as an assistant?)

Daniel passed through the library several times a day (the location of the Aladren Commons made the room impossible to avoid even if he hadn't liked books as much as he did) so it didn't take him long to notice that they had a new librarian or to find the notice hanging on the library bulletin board.
He didn't have to consider the opportunity long. He took out his quill and added his name to the list:
Daniel Nash II, Fourth Year, Library Monitor
It felt a little strange but oddly satisfying to put something other than 'Chaser' into the last column. How he'd become a sports guy over the last three years was quite beyond him. This kind of activity was far more in keeping with the sort of thing he'd expected to get involved with when he started at Sonora.
Plus, he needed every advantage he could get to beat out the other Aladren Fourth Years for Prefect next year.

Theo Manzana sat in the library reading over his letter for his parents and wondering why the new librarian was so young. All the ones he had even seen had looked like his Móraí or his Abuela. Ms. Simms looked a lot nicer then his Abuela, her smile reminded him of his Mother’s which looked like his Móraí’s. He was surprised when he found himself missing his family. Theo pushed those thoughts aside when she put up an announcement Theo made his way over. The Crotalus grinned, he spent so much time in the library he should have been an Aladren.
He grabbed up his quill and quickly wrote his name. Theo Manzana – Second Year - Library Monitor Theo sighed and hoped that if he was accepted as a Library Monitor Ms. Simms would work around the Crotalus Quidditch Team practices and games. He had made a commitment to the team and he wouldn’t give that up. He glanced down at his watch and sighed, speaking of which he was going to have to wait to owl Mother and Father until after practice because he was going to be late. He grabbed his bag and ran out of the library

After her conversation with Daniel at the Feast and the revelation that to some degree she missed acting, Taylor had been thinking a lot lately about her future. Not just with CATS, but what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. There was an entire world of opportunity out there, not just acting or science or being a housewife. She could be anything, but she decided to take some of the advice she had given him. To get out there and test the waters for all intents and purposes.
So, seeing the notice in the library, she decided to sign up to see if being in a library was something she wanted to do. Taking a quill, she added her name to the list.
Taylor Li, Fourth Year, Assistant
She decided against being a Library Monitor in case she hated being in the library. She doubted she would actually hate it, but it was also possible that she might not like it the same way as she liked other activities. She figured this way she could get a taste to see what she thought without as much responsibility. Then, next year, if the program continued and she did like it, she could go out for Monitor. Satisfied, she headed towards the book shelf that was her dorm.
Being a diplomat, Dmitri’s father could be classified as a well-rounded person. He was a people person. He knew how to get along with people from all walks of life. He said it came from his experiences through various groups and for as long as Dmitri could remember he encouraged him to join in things as well. That’s how he had found himself trying out for Quidditch.
That’s how he also found himself looking at the notice currently posted in the library. Aside from being well rounded, being a library monitor actually sounded interesting. He liked reading so he would enjoy finding out what treasures the library offered. He also liked people and what better way to meet people than to assist them? His parent would be proud too, because he would be networking. Maybe even meeting older student. With that, he added his name:
Dmitri Petrovskii, First Ye ear, Library Monitor
If they couldn’t give him that, but were able to give him Assistant, he would be equally happy. He couldn’t wait to find out. Already excited over the possibility, he went to explore the library stacks.

Being an Aladren meant that Jera spent more time in the library than three quarters or the school's population. Being a bookworm meant she spent more time there than most Aladrens, too. She was so familiar with the llibrary in fact that she didn't tend to pay much attention to her surroundings while she was there. Consequently, it was probably several days after the notice had been placed that Jera first saw it, judging by the number of names already on the list.
Helping out in the library made sense to Jera. She spent so much time there already she might as well be useful. The sixtb year read the note again - paying proper attention this time - and decided on a role. With Quidditch practise and her sixth year classes though, she didn't want to commit too heavily. Being a generic assistant would be fine with her.
Taking a quill, Jera added her details to the list: Jera Valson, 6th year, Library Assistant.
