The library was now a familiar place. It had taken a while to become so, as Elly didn't go in there especially often, and certainly far less frequently than her Aladren peers. However, she had visited fairly regularly to find inspiration for pranks, and had spent a lot of last year quietly studying for history of magic (which hadn't helped - she'd failed the subject anyway). She'd also legitimately used the school library to research Quidditch in her younger years, and charms for Josiah's club more recently. She was familiar with Oscar, the librarian's cat, and she knew the Aladren commonroom entrance must be around here somewhere but as yet she didn't know quite where. It was shameful really to have been at Sonora for almost six years and to have only ever been in one common room.
Today, Elly did have some potions homework to do, and she came for some help beyond her set textbook. This lay open before her as she took notes from it. The small pile of books next to her, however, were for a different purpose entirely. The title of the top book, 'Charms for events and occasions' might give a clue as to their purpose. She'd put them there as an incentive to finish her homework - they were her reward. She had every intention of making the bonfire particularly memorable with some spectacular trick. Though more importantly, she wanted to keep up with the top of the class in potions, and that meant keeping up with Geoff and Morgaine. No easy feat, even for Elly, who had somehow always been good at potions.
She had been working for about half an hour, and had a good page of notes in front of her when someone joined her at the table. "Hi," Elly said brightly, looking up with a smile. The greeting was not strictly necessary: students hard at work often ignored each other, but Elly was glad of the momentary distraction.
