Tally groaned in frustration as she stood in the bibrary entrance. She had been heading to her common room when, instead, she had ended up here. Will she ever learn her way around this place? She thought angrily to herself.
Tally sighed and pushed her long brown hair out of her face. Her dark green eyes surveyed the room and found no one she knew. Sighing again, she decided to explore the library.
After a few moments, she found a small isolated area of the library and sat down, losing herself in her thoughts.
She missed home. Mainly, she missed her dad. She had received a letter from him that morning tell her he was proud of her and missed her dearly. Tally's mother had died when she was three years old during an accident at her job. She had been a Healer, so Tally hadn't been sure what had happened and her father never spoke about it. In fact, he had never truly recovered from her death. Tally and her brother Josh, who had been 16 when their mother had died, had begged their dad to start dating again years after their mother's death, but he refused. So, Tally took care of him as he raised her.
She missed him more than anything. Her dad and her brother were all she had, really. Well, their house-elf, Angel too. And now she was away from them all and it terrified her.
It's not that she wasn't enjoying herself here, quite the contrary. She had made so many new friends who were all so very cool, it was just...she didn't have the only men in her life that mattered.
Tally closed her eyes, surprised by how sad she truly felt for being away from home. Her dad missed her. He was happy for her, but he missed her. His loneliness only made everything worse for her. Tally felt the tears fall from her eyes, but didn't bother to brush them away. It was hard being eleven and away from home for the first time.
It was hard being eleven period. She hadn't a normal childhood, but that was okay with her. In her mind it had been normal. Now she was away from that normalcy and she wanted desperately to reclaim it and be the little girl she had been only a month before.
Tally wondered whether leaving home had been just as hard for anyone else as it had been for her.\n\n
Jen looked around the library at bit and sat down in a corner near a window and began to read a letter her parents had sent her. Unlike many other witches, she lived a muggle life before Sonora Academy, without any house elves, or spells. She then looked to her right and saw a girl she had seen in class, she looked a little home sick so she walked over to the girl and sat down. "Hi, I'm Tally, I think I've seen you in transfiguration class..." \n\n
Tally, who had her head down in her hands, jumped when another girl started talking to her. Instead of looking up, however, she quickly wiped her face clear of tears. Looking up she saw the girl she had met in class, she hadn't really spoken to her, so she didn't know her at all.
Something the girl said rang in her ears and she looked up at the girl with lowered eyebrows, "You're not Tally, I am. You're Jen, if I'm remembering correctly." as she waned a smile that didn't meet her green eyes.\n\n
OCC: lol sry Tally, I had read your post and was thinking of the name Tally and I accidentally wrote it.
"Are you okay?" asked Jen, handing Tally a tissue. "Sorry for interupting you, I'm feeling a little home sick also." Jen said, putting her carmel brown hair, which kept getting in her eyes, up in a big messy bun. "You looked a little lonely over here." \n\n
Tally chuckled lightly, a little was an understatement. She took the tissue gratefully from Jen and held it tightly.
She felt stupid for crying. She never cried, not ever, it just wasn't done. She knew the stories of worse things in the world. Stories of murders, of neglect, of betrayl. Stories her father had to deal with everyday as an Auror and come home burdoned with them.
She glanced back up at Jen,
"Just a little. I was just thinking about my dad. He's all alone now that I'm not there. I'm just worried about him." She smiled and shrugged, "It's stupid of me, I know. Thanks though."
Jen looked at Tally's face brighten up a bit. "You're welcome,it's not stupid of you." she said "Everyone cries." Jen began to scratch her head. "So, what house are you in?"\n\n
Tally was watching Jen look uncomfortable. Tally felt uncomfortable. She never cried and when she did, she felt terribly vulnerable.
"Teppenpaw. I don't know anyone else from my house though. Everyone I've met has been in any other house, but the one I'm in. Kind of a bummer if you ask me."\n\n
