The surprising new face at Liac’s dinner table had got him out of his sulkig, which was beneficial since he always liked to be in a good mood for Chaslyn. He wasn’t sure what he liked about her, but whatever it was kept tugging at his mind during summer enough to the point where he decided to make her a gift. He had thought of doing so earlier in their friendship but nothing he had fabricated, weather it was from iron, bronze or meteorite fit was up to his expectations. Chaslyn was a Pureblood after all, so she was probably expecting the best of the best. As a man, no, as a metal-charmer there had to be no discrepancy in his skills compared to other pureblood families.
They had made earlier arrangements to meet in the Gardens to catch up from summer, so Liac being Liac made sure to get to their predetermined designated spot by the fountain early. Walking over to the fountain he decided to spuce up the fountain. Mr. Xavier always kept the grounds clean and tidy, but he wanted that extra pop today. “Orchideous,” he said moving his wand in a circular motion causing water lilies to bloom on the surface of the fountain. “There that looks nice,” he said to no one in particular. Liac wasn’t really that great with delicate magic, but Tobi was a good resource with that kind of stuff.
Although usually it would be way to hot to be relaxing in the gardens, the sun was on its way down, giving the garden a comfortable temperature. There would still be light for another hour, but it wouldn’t be long before the gardens were covered in darkness. Which was fine for him. If Chaslyn got scared of the dark he had no qualms being her knight in shinning armor. He leaned back into the grass clutching the little box in his hand. He had worked long and hard on this one, it was by far his best creation. He hoped Chaslyn would like it too and maybe give him a big smile- or a hug if he was ultra-super lucky. He knew the latter was unlikely as it probably wasn’t what good young Purebloods were supposed to do, but a smile would be more than enough for him. After all, he always thought she was prettiest when she smiled.
It wasn’t long before he heard the footsteps of his friend. “About time, I was starting to think that you had ditched me,” he said with a wink, indicating he was just teasing her. Jumping up in one fluid motion he beamed at his company. “How was your summer Chaslyn?” he asked.
OOC: Arrangements for post made previously in Chatzy. Also I assumed that since they have been friends for four years that he would call her by her first name.

She knew she shouldn't be meeting Liac right now. After all, CATS was coming up at the end of the year and she needed perfect scores. She should be studying. Besides it wasn't appropriate to sneak around with a guy in the gardens. One of Arabella's roommates, Theresa Carey was said to be a bad example because of doing so, though Arabella stuck up for Theresa and said Cepheus Princeton-and possibly his family-were the ones to blame and now she was the one with a bad reputation. Besides, while holding no ill will towards Lucrezia Renaldi as it wasn't her fault at all and personal feelings about Cepheus aside, Arabella couldn't see why the Princetons wouldn't want their heir to marry a Carey in the first place. After all, they were one of the best connections in America along with Chaslyn's own family.
Still, no matter who was right and wrong in that situation, it didn't change the fact that Chaslyn was going off to meet an "inappropriate boy"-she hated thinking of Liac that way, but that was how it was seen by both Mother and society instead of studying or doing something else that was productive. It was most definitely not something her mother would approve of. She could only hope that if Mother found out somehow that Chaslyn getting prefect would take the edge off. Logically speaking she wouldn't find out-even if Kelsey found out, she'd lecture Chaslyn but she wouldn't tattle. Their particular group of cousins-Carrie excluded-were close and had something of a code. Tattling was against it. She didn't think this was uncommon amongst people in general, and would never do it to any of them. Even Kira. As much as it pained her to admit, because she still really resented the girl for taking away her sister, she hadn't seen too much Kira had done that would be scorned by society. If she was honest, she was in a slightly worse position than her cousin that way, though still hated thinking it both cuz of how much she cared for Liac and because of how much she was honestly jealous of the second year.
However, Liac was her closest friend and much like with her sister, Chaslyn couldn't give him up, even though she knew Mother wouldn't like it at all. She even liked him better than some of her cousins. No matter what, she wanted him as at least a friend forever-even when she inevitably married someone else, her parents had to be looking, based on her age. She'd be sixteen in just a few weeks. People had gotten betrothed earlier, and given Mother's negative opinions of Phillip, Chaslyn's brother-in-law who did everything he could to be kind to her as well as treating Amity like a princess, she had a feeling things would be...happening. And that Mother was going to have more say with her than her sister.
She wasn't sure how that made her feel. Yes, she understood that people didn't always love their betrothed right away if ever. Amity had always given the impression that she was very attracted to Phillip and would give him a chance and he gave Chaslyn the impression that he was protective of Amity and cared a great deal for her. Arabella accepted Paul Bennett and they seemed to get on all right from what the fifth year could tell. Ryan and Sophie had what appeared to be real true love and luckily it had happened to him with someone from a good family, whether or not Sophie was personally kind of unconventional. Even Kelsey didn't criticize Sophie really because she was still pure and Mother didn't seem to care what Ryan did given he wasn't her son. And Tristan seemed to really like Nellie Vandenberg and Chaslyn wished them the best. It didn't seem like anything anyone could object to.
Right now, she was here meeting Liac, and when she saw him, all thoughts of Theresa Carey and Cepheus Princeton and the thoughts of being compared flew out of her mind. It didn't necessarily have to do with Chaslyn and she was just so happy to be reunited with her friend, though the thoughts of Mother's opinions were always lurking. She could also just...study later. Sacrifice a bit of sleep. There were potions that could help her.
She smiled at him, knowing Liac well enough that he was teasing-the wink helped."Never." She said with a smile. He was one of the only two people who could make her go against Mother a little, him and Amity. On the question about her summer she replied, "Busy as usual. Yours?"
OOC-Of course he can! I/They generally prefer first name basis to begin with. Also if Chaslyn's comments on Theresa/Cepheus aren't accurate, it's cuz she doesn't know the whole story
