Reggie had decided about a month ago to have a party. It was too close to Halloween to actually have it on Halloween, so it ended up being much closer to Thanksgiving. She felt this would give people enough time to procure costumes from back home or allow them to send out requests to shops and buy them from catalogues. She felt that was the nice thing for her to do. Besides, she wanted an awesome costume and needed the time to actually get it. Her father wasn’t much help, but her Grandmother knew exactly what she wanted and had gotten it in the right size. Thank Merlin for awesome Grandmothers.

Her costume was that of a Woodland Fairy. Reggie loved fairies. Not the actual magical fairies because some of them were rather creepy to look at; but rather, the Muggle version of fairies. They were always so beautiful and everyone wanted to have them. Reggie wasn’t really sure where her love of fairies came from, but it was one of those girly-girl things that she sometimes would fall for. Like the skirts and dresses that she had been sporting for the last couple of terms as well as the makeup. Her outfit was a satin green with a tutu purple skirt beneath it. Across the waist was a purple flower for the woodland look and small wings were attached in the back. The dress was extremely short and, although it did not normally come with leggings, her grandmother included black legging shorts that came to her calves. She put her hair in soft waves and had a matching flower wreath around her head to finish off the woodland fairy look. She tried to make her makeup fun by using glitter and fun purple, but who knew how others would see it. Oh well, it was a night of pure fun and she didn’t care if they didn’t agree with her costume choice.

Meeting with her friends, she had set up the gardens with the help of the Prairie Elves (they were so accommodating!) with fresh snacks and drinks all over the area. Seating had also been provided. The party was at the center the gardens where the fountain was and Reggie had charmed it to look like blood was flowing from it. The gardens were decorated in various holidays. Some were creepy and scary covered in webs or with skeletons/ghouls/ghosts popping out to startle you for Halloween, some were fall colors and pilgrim style, while others were red and green with fake snow, empty presents, and, of course, Mistletoe. Reggie had spent all morning setting it up with the Elves. They were so good at this sort of thing! And the kitchen Elves were awesome about the food. As much work as it had been to get everything set up and ready, Reggie was proud of how it all came together.

The time had arrived for the party to start. Reggie turned on the music which was charmed to flip through each holiday. “Okay, let’s get this party started!” Reggie declared, happy that people were interested but even more happy that the Fifth year Teppenpaws weren’t horrifically angry with her for throwing them into this with her.

OOC: Reggie will be taking lots of pictures throughout the evening, so feel free to say in that you posed or were suddenly bombarded by flashes!

While he appreciated his new life, his new peers and his incredible new abilities, there was still the odd occasion when Linus missed being back home with his family. He and Johan were the only ones old enough to remember Thanksgiving with their father (and Johan had even admitted he couldn't remember all that much), but they had since enjoyed a proper celebration with what remained of the family. Linus missed the turkey, yams, and little chocolate desserts his Mom made. He even missed his brothers fighting and Daphne doing everything she could to remain the centre of attention. Of course he got to see them all again at midterm and for Christmas, so he'd adjusted to missing one of the two main family meals of the year, but his memories were suitably pleasant to cause nostalgia when he read that the fifth year Teppenpaws were throwing a multi-holiday event.

Linus had observed that school social events were few and far between, so even someone not usually disposed to attending large parties, such as himself, could happily engage in all the activities on offer throughout his school career. In this instance, Linus took it upon himself to embrace the spirit of Thanksgiving and was thankful for the opportunity to relax with his peers in a social environment. He would not, however, come dressed as a holiday, as the invitation had suggested (was he supposed to don a turkey costume?), but compromised with khakis and a russet-soloured sweater to create an outfit that undeniably represented Fall.

Until arriving at the party, it had not occured to Linus that students might be attending in couples. Unlike the ball, where couples had been implied from the beginning, this party had seemed more of an independent arrangement. Indeed, there were several individual guests, and some small groups, but there also seemed to Linus to be a large number of identifiable couples. He frowned momentarily, flustered by his lack of acknowledgement of this eventuality, and even as he resolved to not let it bother him, his frown deepened when he noticed that Brianna seemed to be in one of these pre-existing pairs. He could not explain, even to himself, why this bothered him. Perhaps it was simply because she had been his date to the only other paired event he had attended thus far at Sonora, or perhaps it spoke of a negligence in his sense of duty to look out for those less fortunate than himself - although Brianna had not actually demonstrated a great deal of ineptitude in classwork, she was indisputably in greater need, being female, of foreign heritage, and with parents in the service industry. Perhaps it was simply that she looked cute in her elf outfit.

Resolutely dropping his gaze, Linus meandered around the other guests, trying not to huff too obviously, until he found someone tolerable with whom to converse. He was beginning to think it was an impossible task in the random mix of wildlife, historical figures and ficticious beings, so it was perhaps fortunate for his peace of mind that somebody else initiated conversation.

Ephanie had been absolutely thrilled when she had heard that there was going to be a party. She was even more excited when she found out that it combined Halloween and Christmas, two of her favorite holidays. How could they not be? Christmas was awesome, because she loved getting and giving gifts, especially ones that had special sentiment to them. As for Halloween, well, that could be spoken about in volumes. There was the excitement of being scared time and again. There was the candy and other treats. But the best part was being able to dress up. More than anything, she wanted to be an actress in the theater and being able to pretend to be a character, bringing the character to life, was the absolute best part of the holiday.

For the party, she had decided to be a gypsy princess. The costume was a blue dress with gold stars. The sides were purple with gold ribbon. Underneath, she wore a ruffled white blouse and under the skirt a black tutu skirt. She had wrapped an aquamarine scarf with gold coins over her hips and a purple scarf around her head. Her strawberry blonde hair framed her face from underneath. She had paired the look with black boots, lots of gold bracelets along her arm, and dangling gold earrings. Her makeup was simple aside from the use of dark eyeliner. She thought she looked pretty cute.

Arriving at the party, she gazed around in awe. It was the coolest! She wasn’t sure what to do first! Should she go and get something to drink or should she look for someone to talk to? She toyed around with the cards that she had brought along with her, as she decided what she wanted to do. Seeing a boy that didn’t have a costume on at all, which was unusual among the crowd that had seeming embraced Halloween more than anything else, attracted her interest simply for that fact. Wandering up to him, she fanned her cards out, “Tell your fortune?” She grinned, hoping that her veela heritage kicked in, and he would be unable to say no. It would be rather sad if he did.
0 Ephanie Lucore I'm thankful for everything. :) 0 Ephanie Lucore 0 5

Linus

It was a younger girl who had approached, in the year below, if Linus wasn't very much mistaken. He couldn't recall her name on sight, which annoyed him, but he had the letters. E-something, L-something... and she had an older sibling. He had noticed her in classes when their yeargroups were placed together, but he rarely had an interest in engaing in conversation with the younger students unless instructed to do so by a professor, and in which case he would inevitably opt for someone he thought might have a sporting chance of keeping up with him academically.

Anyway, E-something's costume was common, but querky in a pleasant sort of way, so Linus could momentarily set aside his usualy objections at being addressed by someone with whom he had little desire to connect. The unlikely scenario continued, as Linus felt himself drawn to accepting her offer to tell his fortune. He had already dismissed divinations as an incredibly imprecise branch of magic, and that was when it was conducted correctly by an informed proficient, which, as admirable as her efforts might be, E-something surely was not. He would therefore usually scoff at such a suggestion and send the impudent imp on her way; he couldn't fathom why, instead of doing this, he unfolded his arms, and said even with a hint of enthusiasm, and an uncharacteristic friendly smile, "Okay, then. Let me have it."

He wasn't sure what had caused this peculiar effect, but he hoped it would wear off soon, otherwise he'd never be able to fend of the throngs of young females who might be seeking his company. He was already at a party, which was unusual behaviour for the fourth year simply in and of itself; he didn't want his peers to start developing an impression of him as some sort of frivolous socialite.
